The report card provides a summary of a student’s progress toward achievement. However, it is important to note that the report card should serve only as one component of a comprehensive communication system between teachers and parents.

Report Card Information

The report card is completed four times a year, at the end of each

9-week period. The components of the report card are:

  • Content Area Grades
  • Special Area Reporting Section
  • Social Development/Work Habits Reporting Section
  • Comments Section
  • Attendance

Content Area Sections

There are several content areas that report a student’s achievement within that area. Teachers should use documented evidence to evaluate achievement. 

Although factors such as student effort, work habits and behavior are important, they should not directly influence the evaluation of performance in the content areas. These factors are addressed in the Social Development/Work Habits sections of the report card.

The following scale will be used to determine a child’s “Academic Progress” within a content area:

A =(90 – 100)

B =(80 – 89)

C =(70 – 79)

D =(60 – 69)

F =(59 – Below)

For the content areas of reading and math, teachers will also give students a “Grade Level Performance” score of AboveAt or Below. These three terms are used to give an overview of where the child is in relation to his/her overall development and progress toward that specific content area.

Special Area Reporting Section

Students will receive an O, S, N, or U for each special area class offered at the school. The name of the teacher that offers the special area will be listed beside the grade. Only Art, Music and PE are available for use in this section. For other special areas, schools may use an addendum to report progress.

Social Development/Work Habits Section

Social development and work habits are crucial for academic success. Students will receive an O, S, N, or U for each skill assessed.

The following scale will be used to determine a child’s success in Special Area(s) and Social Development/Work Habits:

O Outstanding 90 – 100

S Satisfactory 70 – 89

N Needs Improvement 60 – 69

U Unsatisfactory 0 – 59
