School Advisory Council (SAC)

The SAC was established by legislation to assist in the preparation and evaluation of the School Improvement Plan. The School Improvement Plan is designed to enable our school to meet established goals in the educational process of our children. The council is composed of parents, teachers and other individuals who are representative of the ethnic, racial and economic community served by the school. Membership on the council is voluntary and individuals serve on a rotating basis. Anyone interested in serving on the council is encouraged to contact the school office.

Defining the School Advisory Council

The SAC represents the school community as the voice for school improvement. Teachers, school support staff, students, and parents are elected to the SAC. Business and community leaders are appointed by the principal. The SAC's primary role is to assist the principal in developing and evaluating the school improvement plan [Florida School Code 1001.452, 1001.42(16) and F.S. 24.121]. The SAC also gives assistance to the principal in the planning of the upcoming year's budget. It is to the principal's advantage to have the assistance of representatives from all areas of the school community in developing the plan to improve the school.

PLC

Our Parent Leadership Council is a committee composed of parents of ELL (English Language Learners) students. This committee meets to specifically address the needs of ELL students at our school. In addition to PTA and SAC, it is another opportunity for parent involvement. Parents of ELL students are encouraged to serve on our School Advisory Council (SAC) and attend our monthly, joint SAC/PLC meetings. In addition, Parents of ELL students are specifically invited to meetings several times a year.
